PANAJI: With Operation Sindoor completing one year, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the country would never forget the innocent civilians who lost their lives in the firing incident that led to the operation, while asserting that such a tragedy should never be allowed to happen again.

Recalling the incident, Sawant said intruders had specifically targeted Hindu men and challenged them to “go and tell Modi,” following which security forces tracked down and killed those responsible.

He said the mission was named “Operation Sindoor” to signify the resolve to protect the dignity and lives of women and families. “We will not let the sindoor of our sisters be wiped away,” he said.

Sawant praised the armed forces and security personnel for carrying out the operation and securing the country’s borders. “The revenge that needed to be taken was exacted by all our soldiers under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said, saluting the forces for their role in safeguarding the nation.

The Chief Minister also credited the Prime Minister for strengthening measures to curb infiltration into the country.

Remembering the victims and their families, Sawant said leaders across the country remain united in ensuring that such incidents are never repeated.
