Superintendent of Police, South, Tikam Singh Verma said the police would arrest all the persons involved in the murder that occurred at the Masjid at Gogol Housing Board.
He further told the media that the Fatorda police had deployed a posse of policemen for duty at the Masjid on Friday. He, however, said that the police could not deploy additional force since personnel were drafted for bandobast duty elsewhere.
Saying that the Fatorda police have apprehended two persons in connection with the murder, Tikam Singh said the police have also recovered the weapon of assault used in the crime.
When the media drew his attention to the demand made by one group of persons that they would not take possession of the mortal remains of the deceased, the district police chief said all those involved in the murder and whose names emerge during the investigation of the case would be arrested.
He said the deceased was rushed to the South Goa district hospital after the stabbing but succumbed to his injuries.

Police complaint filed amid rivalry over Masjid affairs
MARGAO: Apprehending trouble and violence from the rival group, the Association of Sunni Gulistan Muslim Resident had earlier in the day on Friday lodged a complaint with the South Goa Superintendent of Police to ensure peace and protection for the lawful managing body and the local Muslim community.
In his complaint, Raja Sab Killied, president of the association, had named a couple of persons belonging to another association for what he termed their repeated illegal acts and disturbance of peace in the Muslim community of the Gogol Housing Board area.
He alleged that some members of the rival association were illegally participating in the daily affairs of the Gulistan Masjid, collecting Jumma donations, Nikkah fees and other amounts without any authority, and refusing to hand over the collected money to the Association of Sunni Gulistan Muslim Resident.
The president had prayed to the SP, South, to register an FIR against the managing committee members of the rival association, take immediate legal action to restrain them from interfering in the affairs of the Gulistan Masjid, direct them to account for and hand over all illegally collected amounts, and ensure peace and protection for the lawful managing body and the local Muslim community.
