Governor, CM extend greetings on Teachers’ Day

PANAJI: On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Governor P Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant extended their greetings to the teaching fraternity, acknowledging their vital role in shaping future generations.

The Governor, in his message, said Teachers’ Day marks the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philosopher and statesman whose vision of education as a tool for building a just and enlightened society remains deeply relevant. He described teachers as true nation-builders who not only impart knowledge but also instil values, inspire curiosity, and nurture character.

“In today’s rapidly changing world, their role is even more significant as they guide young minds to embrace innovation, uphold ethical values, and become responsible citizens. As India marches towards the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047, the contribution of teachers will be pivotal,” the Governor said, while extending best wishes to the teaching community.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also paid tribute to teachers, recalling Dr Radhakrishnan as a teacher par excellence, philosopher, and educationist whose contributions to nation-building remain invaluable. He said Teachers’ Day is celebrated to honour the immense contribution of teachers to society, as they shape students into good human beings and responsible citizens.

“Teachers should ignite the spirit of inquiry and creativity among students so that human resources can be channelled constructively. They must give vision to their students and transform themselves into role models,” Sawant said.

He also congratulated the recipients of the CM-Vashistha Guru Puraskar 2024-25, extending warm greetings to all teachers across Goa. “May you continue to inspire, educate, and guide with the same passion and dedication that has always been the hallmark of our great educators,” the Chief Minister said.
