MARGAO: The Global Romi Lipi Abhiyan (GRLA) has extended its full support to the call given by former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, Ferdino Rebello, to stop the destruction of Goa through rampant land conversions and hill cutting.
GRLA Convenor Kennedy Afonso said the call by Justice Rebello for a people’s movement is crucial at this stage, as it comes at a time when Goa is facing large-scale damage to its land and environment in the name of development.
“Casinos are destroying our rivers. Coal is damaging our environment and is posing a serious health risk to the people of Goa,” he added.
The GRLA has appealed to the people of Goa to support this initiative and unite on January 6, 2026, at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji, to discuss and frame a People’s Charter.
