CJM forwards Mungul gang war case to Sessions Court

28 accused directed to appear on Jan 17

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Margao has committed the sensational Mungul gang war case to the South Goa Sessions Court for trial.

Invoking powers under Section 232 of BNSS, 2023, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Margao has directed all the accused, who are released on bail, to appear before the Sessions Court on January 17, 2025 at 10 am.

The CJM has passed an order to communicate to the Public Prosecutor before the Sessions Court over the date and time of appearance of the accused before the Sessions Court.

The Nazir of this Court is directed to forward the MOs received from the investigating officer to the Sessions Court, without any delay. The Concerned Criminal Incharge has been told to forward all the original remand papers and other documents in originals to the Sessions Court, on top priority basis.

Statements recorded under Section 164 CrPC, if any, shall also be forwarded, in original, along with the records and proceedings to the Sessions Court.

The Fatorda police had invoked the offence of attempt to commit murder against all the 28 accused persons arrested in the case. Almost all the accused arrested in the case are presently released on bail.
