Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) president Manoj Parab on Sunday said he is ready to hand over the party leadership to its lone MLA, Viresh Borkar. Parab told reporters that he had already informed Borkar through the party’s core committee WhatsApp group that he could take charge if he wanted. “I am ready to hand it over. I don’t want any position. I am ready to work even without a post,” Parab said.

He said his decision came after reports of a secret meeting in Margao allegedly held to plan a takeover of the party.

“When I came to know that a meeting was held in Margao to secretly take over the party, I posted on Facebook,” he said.

The RGP chief also said the party wants Borkar to do well in the Assembly.

“We wanted him to rise like Vijai Sardesai. Whenever Viresh Borkar performed well, we celebrated it with him,” Parab said.

Parab added that the party is open to resolving the issue.

“Viresh should come to the office tomorrow for a peaceful discussion. We are ready to share all information with him. We also want to know what happened in the Margao meeting,” he said.
