PANAJI
A bail application filed by an accused in a narcotics case involving the alleged seizure of party drugs has been dismissed by the High Court of Bombay at Goa after repeated non-appearance by the applicant’s representative.
Justice Neela Gokhale while delivering the order, noted that no one appeared on behalf of the applicant, Sajeer Ali, even when the matter was called on April 1. The court recorded that on the subsequent hearing too, there was again no representation.
“It appears that the applicant is not interested in pursuing the present matter,” the court observed, before dismissing the criminal application for want of prosecution.
The accused was arrested by the Crime Branch, which led to the arrest of two others -- Moidin Ashmin (22) and Mohammad Suhel (21), all residents of Karnataka.
As per the case details, the trio was allegedly found in possession of 91.934 grams of MDMA near the Goa State Central Library in Patto, Panaji. The contraband was estimated to be worth Rs 12 lakh approx.
