The movement of a leopard in Bamanwada area of Guleli-Sattari has caused alarm among residents in the area.

Over the past few days, the animal has reportedly been seen moving frequently within the village limits.

According to villagers, the leopard has targeted several domestic animals, including dogs, cats, and some cattle, posing a serious threat to livestock and increasing concerns for human safety. Residents stated that the forest department had been informed earlier, but no concrete action has been taken so far.

Locals claim that the leopard is often spotted roaming the settlement late at night. CCTV footage from a few locations has reportedly captured its movement, further heightening anxiety in the area.

In several instances, the animal has approached houses and attacked dogs, villagers said.

Villagers have strongly demanded that the forest department take immediate action to capture or control the leopard. They also informed that a formal memorandum will soon be submitted to the authorities.

Meanwhile, reports of increased leopard sightings are emerging from other parts of Sattari taluka as well.

Concerned over the possible rise in human-wildlife conflict if timely measures are not implemented, residents have appealed to the forest department to take effective steps to address the issue of wild animal intrusion.
