The Fatorda police have registered an offence against an unknown person for allegedly assaulting a Margao Municipal driver while discharging his lawful duties.
Driver Florino Soares, a resident of Chandrawada, Fatorda, stated that late on Monday evening, in the middle of the road near the Sonsodo cemetery, while proceeding from Fatorda towards Raia in the course of his duty, the unknown accused, driving an Omni car in the same direction, dashed into the complainant’s vehicle.
He further stated that the accused wrongfully restrained the municipal vehicle by suddenly crossing and stopping his car in front of it, thereby preventing him from moving forward.
He alleged that the accused alighted from his vehicle armed with a hard metal object and struck the windshield of the complainant’s vehicle, thereby causing damage and endangering him.
He said the acts were committed while he was discharging his lawful duties as an employee of the Margao Municipal Council.
The Fatorda police have registered an offence under Sections 126(2), 221, and 324(2) of the BNS.
