The mercury remains high as Goa experienced a temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa has forecast that temperatures will hover between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius for the next seven days while dismissing heat wave conditions. The State has been witnessing above normal temperatures for the past several days.

Nevertheless, significant fluctuations in maximum temperature are not anticipated over the next week, with the heat index expected to remain below 40 degrees Celsius.

As the State grapples with temperatures above normal, advisories have been issued by different authorities urging people to minimize prolonged exposure to heat, don lightweight clothing, and stay adequately hydrated.

“Overall health risks are manageable for the general public, but vulnerable ones may experience moderate health concerns... There is a risk of dehydration and the possibility of dry grass igniting,” the IMD said, recommending taking precautionary measures when venturing outdoors, especially during peak hours from 11 am to 3 pm, to prevent heat cramps and heat rash.

Goa State Disaster Management Authority also issued a public notice titled ‘Preventive Measures on Heatwave’ that outlines precautions one should adhere to during this extreme weather period.
