Goa's emerging tourist hotspot in North Goa -- Morjim beach -- won the 'best beach destination' award at the prestigious 'Outlook Traveller Awards' on Saturday at New Delhi.
Tourism minister Rohan Khaunte received the award and later posted about it on microblogging site 'X' (formerly Twitter).
Another feather in Goa's tourism cap, though not exclusive but partly shared with neighbouring Maharashtra, was the award won for the 'Best Intra-State Road Trip Routes' for the Amboli to Goa ghats stretch.
Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was the chief guest and presented the awards.
Himachal Pradesh also won two awards for Best Adventure Tourist Destination Gold Category for Bir-Billing in Kangra district and for the Best Eco-Tourism Destination Gold Category for Spiti in Lahaul-Spiti district.
"Goa grabs Limelight at the Prestigious Outlook Traveller Awards -2023 by winning Award for Best Intra-State Road Trip Routes (Amboli Ghats to Goa) while Morjim Beach bags the Award for Best Beach Destination in India," Khaunte wrote on X.
Quoting Khaunte's tweet, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant wrote on X: "Goa continues to shine as the best tourist destination and Best intra-state Road Trip routes in the prestigious Outlook Traveller Awards 2023. Heartiest congratulations to Goa tourism and all the stakeholders for their efforts."
