MARGAO: The Margao police have registered an FIR against a man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly raping a woman after intoxicating her and extorting more than Rs 16 lakh from her. In her complaint, the victim stated that on June 15, 2024, at a hotel near Gate No. 6 of Margao railway station, the accused, identified as Pappu Tiwari alias Sachdev Tiwari, alias Dev Pandit, alias Ajay Tiwari, a resident of Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly intoxicated her and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. She further alleged that the accused extorted more than Rs 16 lakh from her. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 506, 420, 406, 384, 376 and 328 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
