A Vasco resident was allegedly cheated of nearly Rs 25 lakh by a couple who promised to secure him a job on a ship but failed to deliver or refund the money.
The complaint was filed by Flyan Colaco of Vaddem-Vasco, stating that between January 2023 and August 26, 2024, the accused Richard Swamy and his wife Rajeshwari Achari, both from Chicalim, induced him to part with an amount of Rs 24,94,649 on the assurance of providing him employment on a ship. Despite repeated follow-ups, the promised job was never arranged and the amount collected was also not returned.
Based on the complaint, Vasco police have registered an offence of cheating with common intention.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Prisly Carvalho of Vasco police station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
