Vasco set for major infra boost with key development projects

Will enhance urban connectivity, sports facilities

Vasco is set to witness a major infrastructure boost as the government will undertake the inauguration and foundation stone laying of key development projects at SAG Ground, Vasco, on Wednesday from 5 pm onwards.

The initiatives aim to enhance urban infrastructure, improve connectivity, and strengthen sports and recreational facilities in the region.

The programme will include the inauguration of the Railway Underbridge at Vasco, which has been upgraded to address long-standing connectivity issues and facilitate smoother movement of traffic, including emergency services. The improved underbridge is expected to ease congestion and enhance accessibility towards key routes including Dabolim airport and Margao. 

In addition, the foundation stone will be laid for an integrated Sports, Recreational and Commercial Development project aimed at creating modern sports infrastructure and community spaces. The project includes facilities such as indoor sports halls, volleyball courts, jogging track, gymnasium, and commercial spaces, promoting fitness, community engagement, and local economic growth. 

The programme will also mark the foundation stone laying for a new Municipal Commercial Complex for the Mormugao Municipal Council, with a tendered cost of approximately Rs 8.35 crore. The project will include commercial shops, office spaces, parking facilities, and essential infrastructure to support local business activity and urban development. 

These initiatives reflect a focus on strengthening infrastructure, promoting sports and healthy lifestyles, and supporting sustainable urban development in Vasco and surrounding areas.

The programme will be held in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Vasco MLA Krishna V. Salkar, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Girish Borkar, and other dignitaries.
