MARGAO
The four-day carnival festivities organised by We For Fatorda concluded at the SGPDA grounds, with Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai issuing a midnight warning to the BJP government against any move to shut down the Dabolim airport.
Addressing a gathering, Sardesai cautioned that any attempt to close the airport for civilian operations would trigger strong resistance from the people of South Goa. “No Dabolim, no railways, no highways,” he declared, issuing a warning that the people of South Goa would not hesitate to stop railway and highway traffic passing through the district if Dabolim Airport were to be shut down under the guise of national security or commercial interests.
He urged the crowd to take a pledge not to allow the closure of the airport and to be prepared to shut down the railway line and the national highway if required.
