An upbeat Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai has termed the impressive performance by the Opposition alliance as a trailer, saying the real picture will come in the 2027 Assembly election if the Opposition alliance goes to the polls with the right strategy and planning.
Saying the Goa Forward Party did not do any magic in winning the Raia seat or ensuring the victory of the Congress Davorlim candidate, he said the party has only channelised the public’s anger against the BJP. He said the people of Raia and Davorlim have rejected the BJP’s time-tested tactic of divide and rule in elections.
He said the Opposition will make a serious attempt to devolve powers and functions to the Zilla Panchayat if the alliance comes to power in 2027 by handing over the RDA department to the ZP body.
He refused to take a question on the RGP and its chief Manoj Parab, saying he does not want to comment on pranks. He also offered his apologies to the people of Fatorda for holding hands with the RGP supremo in Fatorda earlier this year.
Sardesai, however, conceded that the Congress–Goa Forward alliance idea did not percolate down to the Congress rank and file, saying Congress workers opposed GFP candidates in many constituencies.
He, however, hastened to add that the Congress and Goa Forward have made a good start in the ZP polls. He said the Goa Forward will go into the upcoming polls for the Margao civic body with all seriousness.
