Congress finally won the Navelim seat after young Malifa Cardozo won the seat for the Congress.

Young Navelim Congress candidate Malifa Cardozo romped home to a comfortable victory in Navelim by overcoming a strong campaign by the Aam Aadmi Party in the ZP polls.
Malifa’s uncle, Cipru Cardozo, said the opponents, including Navelim block Congress members, had opposed the party candidate by sharing Facebook posts, but thanked the people of Navelim for ignoring what he termed a malicious campaign.
He said Congress workers had worked against the party candidate. “Some of the opponents shared an old post of my brother, labelling him and the candidate as BJP members. This malicious campaign had no takers in Navelim because the people of Navelim have seen my work as an Independent ZP member. The huge lead given by Navelkars is a clear indication that people know who is working for them,” he said.
Terming the Congress victory a historic win, Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao said the BJP had won the Navelim Assembly seat by a fluke. “This time, people saved the respect of the Congress, and I am confident that the party will grow further with the support of the people,” he added.
