The much awaited result of the Zilla Panchayat elections 2025 have finally come out and as predicted, the BJP-MGP alliance has secured an absolute majority by winning 32 out of 50 seats. The opposition Congress as usual has also managed to keep its hold, especially in Salcete and some parts of Goa by winning 10 seats, despite the BJP doing setting with some of the top leaders of Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), Aam Admi Party (AAP), Goa Forward Party (GFP) and making them to field their own separate candidates with the sole intention of splitting the secular votes to help the BJP-backed candidates win by default. Well, this shows that the Congress is still popular in the state and many people vote only for the Congress during elections with the sole intention of defeating the BJP. I think that the Congress leaders should henceforth learn to leave their selfishness behind, try to bring leaders of all opposition parties on one single platform and support one common candidate to defeat the BJP candidate in every constituency and then dream of defeating the BJP in the coming assembly elections.
