Complimenting party cadre for putting in hard work for the success of the party in the Zilla Panchayat polls, Goa Congress president Amit Patkar said the ZP poll result has sent a strong message that the downfall of the BJP government has started from today.
Saying the Congress has crossed the double-digit figure from just four seats won in the 2020 election, Patkar said the message is loud and clear that the Congress, along with alliance parties, will form the government in 2027.
While pointing out that the Congress had fielded new and young faces, including women candidates, as part of the party’s agenda to bring fresh faces into politics, Patkar assured that the party would introspect over the poll result and carry out the necessary course correction.
“We will have to sit down and plan how to go about 2027. We will introspect on the poll result and do course correction. Credit goes to our three MLAs who have got their candidates elected in their respective areas. My sincere thanks to the party rank and file for the result,” he added.
To a question, he said the Congress had made an attempt to bring all the opposition parties together, but the people of Goa know why the grand alliance could not take place.
