Celebrate Raksha Bandhan with police personnel

ADELMO FERNANDES, Vasco | 03rd August, 11:24 pm

This year Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August, 9. Raksha Bandhan is a cherished Hindu festival that holds deep cultural and social significance in India.

While primarily celebrated between siblings, Rakhi can also be observed between other relationships, symbolizing the broader concept of protection.

Every year the Rakhi program is conducted to honour Indian Army jawans posted at the border. While the brave jawans protect our country, the members of the police force in turn protect the citizens especially the women folk in their jurisdiction from activities of anti-social elements.

Hence it seems imperative to organize a Rakhi tying ceremony at each and every police station in the state wherein women tie the Rakhi to the police personnel.

Community members, including students, need to visit police stations to tie Rakhis on the wrist of officers and other police personnel, expressing their appreciation for the police force's dedication.

This practice will strengthen the bond between the police and the community.
