I would like to share my opinion in response to a news article on an infamous cybercrime in India -- digital arrest. Finally, our country has woken up, and the Supreme Court has intervened, directing the CBI to investigate and questioning the RBI. Cybercriminals in India have been running large-scale scams, impersonating Microsoft and Amazon support to defraud customers in the US, UK, and other countries for many years now. US and UK social media influencers have made videos, disclosing the alleged criminals' IDs, their location, and catching them in the act. Companies like Microsoft and Amazon have collaborated with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in India and other international law enforcement agencies to target call centres involved in these scams and police recently raided Musk Communications in Bengaluru, arresting 21 employees for impersonating Microsoft support and scamming US citizens. So, what were our enforcement agencies doing for so long? Were they waiting for the scam to affect domestic victims? Now that cybercriminals have allegedly been emboldened to target their own countrymen, our agencies have taken notice, but questions remain about the timing.
