As India marks 78 years of Independence, it is time to wish that every Indian becomes truly independent. Beyond the symbolic celebration of freedom, independence must also mean liberation from poverty, hunger, and socio-economic inequality.
The idea of “Independent Indians” is a call for holistic freedom—political, social, and economic. It is not enough to celebrate sovereignty; every citizen must have access to food, shelter, healthcare, education, and meaningful employment. Independence must empower individuals to thrive with dignity, not merely survive.
Today, we stand at the crossroads of ideal versus reality. Our freedom fighters envisioned a nation where every citizen lived with self-respect and opportunity. However, many still struggle with deprivation and lack of basic needs. Human development must be continuously reviewed and strengthened without delays.
True independence lies not only in national pride but in ensuring economic strength for every Indian—so that freedom flows in our veins as a lived reality, not just a commemoration.
