As anticipated the selection of candidate for Ponda by poll has been in favour of family raj by outweighing the expectation of garnering votes on account of sympathy wave of the masses for the popularity gained by the departed leader. It is sure the candidate will now get additional support since the strong contender considered till recently has surrendered by joining a party which is least effective at State or national level. The public is wise enough and over the period have realised the fact that MLA from the ruling side is of great advantage as he is in position to get things done and or approach Ministers conveniently for sorting grievances, related issues etc. By electing one on the opposition side for hardly two years is just like putting an axe on their own feet as he will be limited to raising voice in the Assembly, as is seen nowadays thus bringing ongoing developmental works in the constituency to a halt. It is hoped voters will come out in large numbers and cast vote judiciously in their own interest and that of the constituency at large.
