Drains neglected in Siolim

Despite the recent rains, the foul stench from the open storm-water drain near the IndusInd Bank in Siolim persists, posing a serious health concern. This area is a commercial hub, bustling with activity due to nearby restaurants, tea stalls, and daily foot traffic. Yet, the condition of the drain remains neglected.

The Public Health Centre (PHC) Health Officer and Sanitary Inspector seem to be absent from their duties, failing to inspect or address such potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other vectors that can spread diseases like dengue and malaria.

The stagnant water and unhygienic surroundings are not only unpleasant but also hazardous to public health.

In light of this, residents and local businesses have urged the Siolim Panchayat to immediately inspect the area and take corrective action. Timely intervention is essential to prevent an outbreak and to maintain sanitary conditions in this otherwise thriving part of the village.
