Magistrate orders strict action on trespassers at waterfalls

South Goa District Magistrate Egna Cletus, IAS, on Friday took a review meeting of the law and order situation in the district, instructing the police and the talathis to take stern action against anyone violating the order prohibiting entry at waterfalls or stone quarries.

The meeting also took stock of the overall situation in the district, including the upcoming Saptah festival in Vasco and the Independence Day celebrations.

Briefing the media after the meeting, the District Magistrate informed that the police have booked two cases against persons who violated the order prohibiting entry at waterfalls or at the abandoned stone quarries.

She said the police have been directed to intensify patrolling at the waterfalls and abandoned stone quarries during the weekends to crack the whip against violators.

The meeting also reviewed the directions issued by the High Court relating to the banner bullfights as well as sand mining in the district.
