Mera Bharat mahan

Stray cattle everywhere on the roads and fields, garbage galore, citizens having zilch civic sense, large regions still without power and water, farmers committing suicides, technical and business graduates without jobs, dear leader urging unemployed people to fry pakodas for a living, buckling airport canopies, serially collapsing bridges, potholed roads, flooded cities, the poor becoming poorer and the rich becoming richer, traffic nightmares, communal riots, people being directed what to eat, what to watch, how to dress, corruption on the rise in public and private enterprises — the list is endless!! Yet, when Trump imposes a 25% tariff on our exports to the US, our hyperpatriotism gets triggered.

How dare he call a dead economy a dead economy? ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’ is emblazoned behind most commercial vehicles — hasn’t Trump driven behind any truck in India? Yes, there are positives too, but the negatives far, far outweigh the positives. Our chests are so swollen with pseudopatriotism and fake nationalism that we fail to seek accountability from our government.

Anyway, if you do that, you are branded an antinational. If you can’t see or acknowledge the problems, then perhaps you need to get your eyes tested, your ears checked and your nose examined. Jai Ho!
