State government had introduced Mhaji Bus scheme in 2023 for private buses on various routes. However the same is discontinued now and government has introduced scheme to them. Now the state has KTC buses on various routes but to cater better service now the government has come with offer to the private bus operators. The scheme is government will provide Rs 3 per litre subsidy on diesel, ten lakhs to replace the bus and 50 per cent in insurance coverage. The scheme looks good but private operators feel the same is not sufficient. State should nationalise all the routes and then take private buses under the scheme. There should be strict rules with regards to standing passengers and overcrowding must be stopped. More buses will be required on routes at peak hours keeping in mind school timings, workers timings, other employees and same in afternoon, and evening while returning back. Frequency of buses should be increased where needed. While operating buses safety of passengers should be key focus and both bus driver and conductor should be with uniform and name badge on it. Such measures will help both bus owners and passengers and provide better and safe travel.
