Govt should not politicise International Yoga Day

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, after chairing a crucial meeting to plan month-long Yoga workshops ahead of International Yoga Day has said that his government has made participation in June 21 event (which is annually marked  as International Yoga Day) "compulsory" for all employees of government, semi-government and corporations as until now, participation in Yoga Day was a "voluntary" affair. He has also said that if the employees are not able to come to the office or for the government event on the above mentioned day/date, then they should look out for either temple or school in their place and participate. And a picture should also be sent to the head of the Department, confirming the participation. Well, in other words, the whole idea of the Pramod Sawant led government for making its employees to compulsorily participate in this event on June 21 finally seems not to promote yoga but to display their loyalty towards the Modi government.

I think that the government should stop turning the annual International Yoga Day into a cheap one day photo-session drama to distract Goans from its own major failures.
