Law and order situation has gone for a toss

Bastora attack on a pregnant woman and her husband is highly condemnable. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Goans would behave so insanely. It's shocking to learn that some of those hooligans were personnel from the police department. Police are supposed to help the public and defend the helpless when in trouble. They're supposed to protect and serve the people. I can hardly believe that even our police force is involved in promoting violence and assisting criminals. We used to have so much respect for the police force in Goa in the past. Our police force in the past had high standards of ethics and they were just in their dealings with the public. It's also shocking to learn that they defy transfer orders...this is unheard of and it cannot happen without political backing.

Dr Pramod Sawant, as the Home Minister of the state, has to straighten things out in the police department. If men in uniform do not conduct themselves in a way that their job demands, then the department should take action against such grossly erring officials. As a Goan, I am worried about the security of my fellow Goans, which is at stake, as there are many old people staying alone in their houses as their near and dear ones are overseas to sustain their families, as the government cannot provide job opportunities to the Goans.

A society that is unfair and unjust to its citizens will go down the drain. God forbid such a thing. Dr Pramod Sawant, the Home Minister of Goa, should roll up his sleeves and take appropriate action on a war footing to save the law and order situation in the state of Goa. We Goans don't deserve to live in a land of lawlessness, as the incidents happening in the state send shivers down the spine.
