To assist the traffic cops and to streamline the movement of pedestrians and motorists, tens of traffic lights have been erected at various places in Goa. These have costed crores of rupees to the exchequer. The traffic lights help to manage, decongest and regulate the ever-increasing number of vehicles and people (locals and tourists). The government needs to come out with a white paper pertaining to the traffic lights in terms of: numbers, locations, date installed, present status (working /non-working), action taken if not working, whether synchronised with nearby signals, timings, maintenance, software updates and related issues. It is useless to have traffic signals that are dead, work erratically or flash a single colour to confound the motorists and pedestrians.
