Boost needed for pink e-rickshaw mission

After witnessing the success of the Pink Force initiative, Goa introduced a fleet of Pink Electric Rickshaws in June 2022 with the aim to offer self-employment opportunities to women. Women are able to get the rickshaws at a subsidized price via the Economic Development Corporation (EDC). These rickshaws can also be taken with the help of a loan through Chief Minister's Rozgar Yojana (CMRY) or through Rotary Club. The introduction of pink-e-rickshaws has given women financial independence and the ability to provide for their families. They can work flexible hours and earn a decent income, which has improved their social and economic status. Women who previously had limited job opportunities due to their gender or lack of education are now able to support themselves and their families. In recent years, e-rickshaws have also played a significant role in empowering women in India. The pink brigade has gained the trust of their customers, but they still have a long road ahead. Unlike traditional rickshaws, e-rickshaws are equipped with electric motors, which require less physical effort to operate. Women in Goa, especially in South Goa, need to be encouraged to ply e-rickshaws as it opens self-employment avenues.
