The news report ' Goa plans to develop one world class tourist spot '(TGE, May,27), is a splendid idea to revive Goa's sagging image of being a tourist paradise. With the destruction of our pristine beaches, the only alternative now is to develop world class places where tourists can relax and feel safe, without the fear of being attacked and bitten by stray dogs ----something unheard of in other tourist spots of the world. In Mumbai for example we have the prestigious 'hanging gardens' in Malabar hill and 'Essel World' in the suburbs, which are just some places to emulate. However it is pertinent to mention that 'Viksit Bharat, 2047' entails several other factors like social progress, economic growth, environmental sustainability, and good governance. Our focus should therefore be more on these factors than just developing one solitary tourist spot.
