Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that paying bribes are no way for getting government jobs. His comment comes a day after the arrest of an Old Goa resident who was involved in a related fraud case! On an objective basis, I have serious doubts on the Chief Minister's credibility on this issue: In December 2021 following allegations by Atanasio Monserrate that the then PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar had taken bribes for Jobs, the CM Pramod Sawant had launched a vigilance inquiry to which we have heard nothing about coming to its logical conclusion. Secondly, the CM has made so many statements and promises in public: Stopping sound pollution in North Goa beach belt, addressing the Zuari land scam project as per the facts tabled in last assembly session, stating no hills will be cut and violators like DLF/Bhutani mega project will be addressed, immediate action against anyone making provocative communal statements (and then we see select people aligned to BJP protected from arrest), jobs will be created for Goans... and so on! So my question to Goans is: How true are Goa Chief Minister's public statements?
