One leader genuinely devoted himself to the nation, stood tall with integrity, and never felt the need to hide behind the valour of our armed forces. He didn’t shamelessly exploit their sacrifices for votes, nor did he turn national security into a theatrical production for political mileage. He let the soldiers’ bravery speak for itself, rather than shouting it from rooftops for personal glorification. And then we have the other — a megalomaniac master of melodrama, ever ready with a cam, a crew at the border, turning every military operation into a stage show, complete with chest-thumping speeches and dramatic pauses. This one doesn’t miss a single opportunity to wrap himself in the national flag while conveniently using it as a curtain to cover up failures. Patriotism, for him, is less about action and more about performance — and the louder the applause, the better.
