Tirangas need to be removed and accorded due respect

With national flags still flying high on several houses in the port town, MLA Krishna Daji Salkar on Wednesday appealed to the people to remove them and to fold them in an orderly manner apprehending that continuing hoisting the flag could be offensive and people may face action by authorities. This could be an issue faced not only in Vasco but in several other cities and villages in the State as well. The Union government has urged people to hoist the national flag in their homes from August 13 to 15 to mark the 75th year of India's independence. Though many people removed the tricolour and kept it safely in their homes after August 15, some others delayed in removing it.  Proper directives should have been issued to the public by the authorities earlier while selling the flags or by those politicians who distributed the flags free of cost in their constituencies, on when to remove the national tricolor hoisted by the people and how to keep it safely and in an orderly manner in order to maintain its honour, dignity and respect.
