This is with reference to the news report ‘It was my sole decision: CM on Gaude’s removal’ (TGE, June 20). With the removal of Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude from the cabinet, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has once again proved that with the powers vested in him as Chief Minister, his is the final word.
Well done, Chief Minister, although it has come not a day too soon, when it was found that a few of the ministers in the Goa government were found to be exceeding their brief with decisions which were found to be detrimental to state governance. We have seen this happen only a fortnight ago in the drama that unfolded at the Goa Medical College (GMC) hospital when the Health Minister had to retract his decision and apologise after the Chief Minister intervened. It is hoped that after the imminent cabinet reshuffle, ministers will be more careful while discharging their duties.
