Let inclusivity be a way of life in Goa: Governor
An inspiring display of talent, resilience and inclusivity marked the Tum Bhi Chalo, Hum Bhi Chale programme, as children with disabilities captivated the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor of Goa Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, “These children have touched our hearts with their tremendous performances in diverse folk forms of our country. Each performance was not just art but a celebration of courage, discipline and creativity. This excellence is the result of the dedication of choreographer Mamta Chandel.”
Stating that India has always believed that music and art are not merely forms of entertainment but powerful therapies that nurture concentration, rhythm and confidence, the Governor said that for specially abled children these forms of expression become even more significant. “They help unlock hidden potential, build self-esteem and create a sense of belonging in society. We must remember that specially abled children are not defined by their limitations, but by their resilience and dreams,” he said.
The Governor underlined that it is the collective responsibility of the government, educators and citizens to provide them with care, opportunities and platforms where they can shine.
“Their success will not only be theirs but also a reflection of the compassion and inclusivity of our society,” he said, adding that he was delighted to learn that several schools in Goa participate annually in this programme, showcasing the talent and confidence gained under the mentorship of Mamta Chandel.
He also appreciated the headmasters and teachers of all the schools that participated in the event.
“Today’s brilliant performances remind us that when given the right care, encouragement and training, every child can rise above challenges and achieve greatness. Let us pledge to continue strengthening initiatives for specially abled children through education, healthcare, skill development and cultural opportunities, so that they may live with dignity and independence and enjoy life. Together, we can build a Goa where inclusivity is not just a principle but a way of life,” the Governor urged.
