One, what could be the reason behind the delay when CM Pramodbab Sawant and senior party leaders have not stopped saying that people would vote for the Lotus more than the candidate? That’s not all. The delay in unveiling the candidate has raised many an eyebrow, more so when party leaders have been quick to write off the Congress in South Goa and not to forget that half the members of the Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet hail from down South. Many a question indeed remains unanswered.
When Sudin, Vijai publicly extended co-operation to each other at event
MGP stalwart and Power Minister Sudinbab Dhavalikar apparently came well prepared to face volley of questions from opposition MLA Vijaibab Sardesai when he descended in Fatorda earlier this week for the Panchayat Chalo Abhiyan. No doubt, the participants did raise many an issue affecting Fatorda, but Sudinbab apparently was anticipating fireworks from the Goa Forward chief. As it turned out, however, Sudinbab patted Vijaibab for extending cooperation to him during his visit and the Goa Forward chief reciprocating by publicly acknowledging his friendship with the MGP supremo. How close is Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai to Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant, is a question that did the rounds in political circles moments after a group of Benaulim-based tourist taxi operators called on him on Friday. Reason: When the delegation voiced their plight over the speed governors, Vijaibab was quick to call up the Chief Minister that Pramodbab responded to the call on the other side without wasting much time, only left the people around to wonder the rapport the duo share in the political scheme of things. Yuri’s congratulatory hoarding in Vijai’s fiefdom a talking point
Days after Yuribab Alemao bagged the Best Legislator award instituted by a media group, hoardings congratulating the Opposition leader has come up at a couple of places in Saxttidom. In fact, one such hoarding has come up at Dovondem metres away from the South Goa district hospital and right opposite the residence of Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai. Political observers have been left to wonder the significance of the congratulatory hoarding at Dovondem when Yuribab hails from Cuncolim constituency. Another such hoarding, sources said, has come up along the road leading to Varca from the Khareband Bridge. Is any message going out from the first time MLA to the bigwigs via the hoardings?
A week when politicos claimed credit for turnaround at Sonsodo
It was a week when politicians rushed to claim credit for the turnaround taking place at the stinking Sonsodo. When Waste Management Minister Babush Monserrate descended at Sonsodo earlier this week, local politicians briefed him how they worked overtime to clean up the Sonsodo mess. Someone, however, was overheard saying the credit for the turnaround at Sonsodo should go to the High Court and its Judges, Justice Maheshbab Sonak and Justice Bharatbab Deshpande, for closely monitoring the progress of waste management works in the PIL filed by an NGO, Citizens for Sonsodo through its secretary Roquebab Mascarenhas, when the civic body was found wanting on several occasions.
