Did the Congress troika comprising GPCC Chief Amitbab Patkar, Opposition Leader Yuribab Alemao and Quepem MLA Altonbab D’Costa make a quiet visit to neighbouring Karnataka, is a question doing the rounds in Congress circles and outside. While sources close to the trio confirmed that they did visit Karnataka, the purpose and agenda behind their visit and whether they managed to meet top party leaders is a subject matter of debate. Given that Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge hails from Karnataka, there is growing buzz that the trio may have met leaders close to him. Wait and watch.
Damubab’s discipline ‘sermon’: Will anyone listen?
It was a week when BJP State President Damubab Naik stressed on discipline as party leaders were back in the game of one-upmanship. However, he must have realised that action initiated against Govindbab Gaude for indiscipline has no bearing on other warring party leaders. Apparently frustrated over party leaders engaging in a war of words, Damubab sent out a strong message to those who were not part of the original BJP to shed their past ideological baggage and fully align with the BJP’s principles and culture. Will there be any takers? Wait and watch.
AAP eyes ST vote in 2027: Strategy in motion
With reports emanating from the national capital suggesting that the Aam Aadmi Party top leadership is gearing up for the 2027 Goa Assembly polls, the local leadership appears to be systematically going about its job to expand the party base in the State. If sources within AAP are to be believed, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has set its sights on the crucial Scheduled Tribe vote, spread across the hinterland talukas of South Goa. As part of its strategy to gain a foothold in these areas in a bid to consolidate the vote, AAP local leadership has planned the induction of ST youth leaders into the party fold on Sunday. For now, it’s a matter of wait and watch.
Lyndon’s Nuvem plans: Under which banner?
Former chairman of Goa Meat Complex, Lyndon Monteiro, seems to have set his eyes on contesting from Nuvem in the 2027 Assembly election. With elections for the Goa Legislative Assembly due in 2027, Lyndon seems to have started his work in right earnest. And he makes no bones about his decision to take the plunge into electoral politics from Nuvem in 2027. The only question left unanswered is under which political banner Lyndon will contest the coming polls. Lyndon is no stranger to politics and politicians, having served as OSD for former Ministers Mickkybab Pacheco and Nileshbab Cabral. Incidentally, he had emerged as a strong contender for the Congress ticket in 2022 when the High Command finally allotted the seat to heavyweight Alexioab Sequeira. Any questions?
Navelim 2027: Alemaos vs Cipru?
Opposition Leader Yuribab Alemao and his team seem to have placed bets on three-time Navelim Zilla Panchayat member Cipru Cardozo to keep the Congress flag flying high in Navelim. On the other hand, Yuribab’s uncle Churchillbab Alemao and cousin Valankabai seem to have also set their sights on Navelim in 2027. Churchillbab has repeatedly told the media that daughter Valankabai will contest from Navelim in the coming polls. There’s no going back, reiterated Churchillbab on Saturday even as the Congress leadership welcomed Cipru into the party fold. Any questions?
