Navelim strongman Bab Luizinho Faleiro has been keeping a low profile for some time now, leaving political observers guessing over his political future. That, however, hasn’t stopped aspiring politicians, who have set eyes on Navelim in the 2027 Assembly election, from seeking his blessings and support. If sources are to be believed three-time Navelim ZP member Ciprubab Cardozo is reported to have informed Luizinhbab over his plans to join the Congress. Take note, the head of the newly-constituted Goa Forward Navelim block Anthonbab Colaco, also kept Luizinhbab in the loop before embracing the regional party. The question uppermost in the minds of Navelkars is simple – has Luizinhbab called it a day in politics or he is bidding for the right time to make a comeback. Wait and watch.
Yuri’s ‘Advisor’ jibe sends political circles into a tizzy
Guess who’s this “advisor” and “dalal” Opposition Leader Yuribab Alemao referred to when he was addressing Congress workers from the home turf of the Sultan of Taleigao. The Opposition leader did not name the politician who was the advisor for many a political leader from 2007 and had also derailed Congress party’s return to power in the recent past. As Yuribab’s speech went viral, political observers, including Congress leaders were left to wonder the trigger that provoked the Opposition leader to go all guns blazing against the “advisor”. Wait and watch as sources are trying to find out whether Yuribab launched the attack at the spur of the moment or with the tacit approval of the party leadership.
Navelim heats up: Goa Forward’s timed entry raises eyebrows
Guess what was the immediate provocation for Goa Forward supremo Vijaibab Sardesai to make an entry into Navelim, coming as it does just four days before the Congress was scheduled to induct ZP member Cipru Cardozo in the party on Saturday. Political observers are on the job to find out whether there was any provocation from the Congress, provoking the Goa Forward chief to rush with the formation of the Navelim block. Or, was this Vijaibab’s way of cautioning the Congress leadership not to take the regional party for granted as the main opposition party goes about strengthening its base, first in Margao and now in Navelim. Any questions?
As Vijai bats for STs in Navelim, critics question his Fatorda stand
Moments after Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai entered Navelim with the objective of empowering the Scheduled Tribes, detractors sought to remind the Fatorda MLA of the good old saying that charity begins at home. Opponents wondered why Vijaibab entered Navelim in a bid to empower the ST community, when his home turf Fatorda plays a significant ST community. His opponents did not stop there – as they wondered whether Vijaibab will pave way for a ST candidate to contest the Assembly election from Fatorda, once the ST stronghold, with ST leader Mama Cardozo representing Fatorda for three consecutive terms. Any questions?
Colva ZP seat in sight, Venzy tests waters in Betalbatim
Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas’ outreach to the Betalbatim farmers seemed to have come under the lens of political observers. Reason: Betalbatim is a part of the Nuvem Assembly constituency represented by Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira. But with Assembly elections still around 18 months away, Venzybab, however, may look forward to Betalbatim to help AAP win the Colva Zilla Panchayat seat in the ZP elections scheduled later this year. For, the Colva ZP seat comprises of Colva, Seraulim, Betalbatim and Majorda villages, the last two named being part of Nuvem Assembly constituency. Last time round, AAP and Venzybab’s candidate had lost the Colva ZP seat by a whisker. Any questions?
