Who amongst the Congress troika of Opposition leader Yuribab Alemao, GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar and Quepem MLA Altonebab D’Costa will secure the highest vote lead for the Congress South Goa candidate, Captain Viriatbab Fernandes in the Lok Sabha poll? Well, this question is doing the rounds in Congress circles as the trio all hail from South Goa, with the Yuri-Altone duo representing the Assembly segments of Cuncolim and Quepem, respectively. Political observers say a sizeable lead in these three segments will not only keep the party in good stead but will help the Yuri-Amit-Alton troika to prove a point or two for backing Captain Viriatbab for the South Goa ticket. Any questions?

Ex-GPCC chief's 'list' to expose party shirkers?
Guess the Congress leaders who have reportedly come under the lens of ex-State Congress president Girishbab Chodankar in the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls. Well, sources say when Girishbab plunged into the poll campaign, especially for the South Goa seat, he is believed to have come across certain leaders, who were reportedly found wanting in putting their heart and soul into the campaign. Girishbab has taken cognizance of the ground reality in some of the Assembly segments and is believed to have compiled a report to be submitted to the High Command. Any takers?

Political mix at councillor's b'day bash draws attention
It was a week when politicians cutting across party lines made their presence felt at a get-together hosted by Cuncolim Municipal Councillor Videshbab Desai, the brother-in-law of Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawat. Social Welfare Minister Subhashbab Phal Dessai, former MLA Clafaciobab Dias, Congress leader Elvisbab Gomes, and Videshbab’s well-wishers all joined the birthday-cum-wedding anniversary celebrations. There was nothing political at the celebrations, sources said, but the very presence of politicians seemed to have left tongues wagging in political circles.

Jackfruit-like, coconut: 'Sweet' metaphors for 'tough' Churchill
Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant has described Varca strongman Bab Churchill as a jackfruit -- hard from the outside but sweet inside. Showering praises on Churchillbab for his passion for football and Goemkarponn at his 75th birthday celebration earlier this week, the CM said only those who know the former chief minister from close quarters will understand him better and see the sweetness in the former CM. incidentally, Churchillbab’s ladli daughter Valankabai described her dad as a tender coconut, covered with a hard shell, but sweet from the inside. Any questions?

Stuck grant for Cuncolim waste new issue for Yuri to raise
When Opposition leader Yuribab Alemao returns home after his sojourn abroad, he may have to find out what went wrong with the government’s promise to transport tonnes of hazardous waste from the Cuncolim Industrial Estate. For, Yuribab was quick to welcome the government’s five-crore grant to the Goa Pollution Control Board towards waste transportation. The grant, however, is still confined to the papers, further delaying the shifting of the hazardous waste. Yuribab may also have to find out the status of the illegal shed outside the Cuncolim IDC. Wait and watch.
