18 Juners and Risers registered hard-fought victories in the Advocates Cricket League T20 tournament, on Saturday.
Impressive performances by Viraj Tar, Akash Kassar, and Kalpesh Kamat made both encounters highly competitive. Both matches were played at the Chicalim Ground, Vasco. With these results, 18 Juners along with United Brothers secured their places in the semifinals. Two spots are still open, with four teams trying to grab them.
In the first match of the day, Legal Titans posted 161 for 7 in 20 overs. Sachin Ramnathkar and Satyam Ghogale scored 38 runs each, while Satchit Mauskar remained unbeaten on 24 to guide the innings. For 18 Juners, Kashinath Posnaik, Rohan Shirodkar, and Viraj Tar bowled effectively, picking up two wickets each.
Chasing the target, Viraj Tar played a decisive knock of 62 runs for 18 Juners. With support from Pradosh Dangui (27) and valuable extras, the team reached 162 for 7 in 19.5 overs to clinch victory with three balls to spare. For Legal Titans, Prasad Vaigankar claimed two wickets.
In the second match, Lawyer Challengers scored 179 for 6 in their 20 overs. Dattaprasad Shirodkar (47), Achit Shigwan (42), and Vrusaj Talaulikar (33) laid a strong foundation for the total. In reply, Akash Kassar (60) and Kalpesh Kamat (52) struck fine half-centuries to steady the Risers’ chase. Shubham Gadekar remained unbeaten on 28, hitting three sixes. Risers reached 182 for 5 in 19.1 overs to register a five-wicket win.
