PANAJI: Mormugao Taluka Chess Association (MTCA) announced the 4th Late Venkatesh & Sumathi Shanbhag Memorial All India FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Rolling Trophy Tournament 2025, which is scheduled to be held on 17 and 18 May. The prestigious event is organised in loving memory of the parents of Sukhant Shanbhag.
The tournament offers a total prize fund of Rs. 1,25,000, attracting top chess talents from across the country. Entry is limited to only 350 players, and already 100+ entries have been received including 2 International Master's, indicating strong early interest. IM Ameya Audi has won this championship in last two years and likely to make hat-rick this year.
The tournament also provides opportunity for unrated players to achieve FIDE Rapid Rating.
