Asmita Wushu City League 2025 concludes

The Asmita Wushu Women’s City League 2025 was successfully hosted by the Association of Goa Wushu on July 25 and 26 at St. Francis De Sales Pre-Primary School Hall, Siolim, drawing enthusiastic participation from around 150 young athletes across the state.

Competitors showcased their talents in the martial art forms of Sanda and Taolu, with bouts and performances conducted across various age and weight categories.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Delilah Lobo, MLA of the Siolim Constituency and Vice Chairperson of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG). She felicitated the players with medals and certificates during the first session and lauded the association’s efforts in promoting Wushu at the grassroots level.

Adding to the distinguished presence were Agnes Dias, Assistant Physical Education Officer at the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Campal, Panaji, and a decorated sports achiever at the state, national, and international levels; along with Dr. Prashant Kadam, Dean of Commerce, Management, and Legal Studies and Professor at VAMNICOM under the Ministry of Cooperation. Both guests joined in congratulating the winners and presented medals and trophies during the second half of the event.

In the team championship results, Government High School, Juna Bazar, Ponda emerged as the overall winners, followed by J.A. Chopedekar Memorial High School, Agarwada, as the first runners-up, and St. Francis Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Siolim, as the second runners-up.

Speaking on behalf of the organizing body, a spokesperson from the Association of Goa Wushu said, “We are proud to see such energy, discipline, and sportsmanship among the participants of the Asmita Wushu League. Our aim is to continue building a strong Wushu culture in Goa, encouraging youth participation and excellence in martial arts.”

The two-day event was not just a competition but a celebration of the spirit of martial arts and youth development, with the Association expressing gratitude to all athletes, coaches, schools, and dignitaries who made the Asmita Wushu City League 2025 a grand success.
