PANAJI: Bardez Veterans and Calangute Veterans lived up to the billing as they edged past their opponents to confirm their spots in the quarterfinals of the Santa Cruz Village Panchayat Veterans Cup football tournament at Santa Cruz ground.
Bardez Veterans needed the luck of the tie-breaker to knock out Goa Police 4-2 after being locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
In another match, Calangute Veterans proved too strong for Siolim Veterans as they cruised to a 3-0 win.
Francis Colaco was the star man for Calangute as he scored once in either half while Marcus Carvalho also added his name to the scorers list.
Calangute will now face Bardez in the quarterfinal clash.
