Fondegal Youth Club delivered a dominant performance to defeat St. Anthony Sports Club 5-1 and progress to the next round of the Fondegal Youth Club 9-A-Side Interward Football Tournament 2025, held at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim, on Thursday.
The game kicked off with both teams showing attacking intent, but it was Fondegal who struck first. In the 5th minute, Aleeward Mascarenhas showcased brilliant skill, dribbling past defenders before firing in a powerful shot to give his side an early lead.
St. Anthony SC responded quickly, with Mark netting an equaliser in the 9th minute. However, the parity was short-lived as Aleeward Mascarenhas struck again just a minute later to restore Fondegal's advantage.
In the 20th minute, Reuben Fernandes added to Fondegal’s tally with a well-taken goal, giving his side a comfortable 3-1 lead at halftime.
St. Anthony SC came out strong in the second half, creating several chances, but were repeatedly denied by a resolute Fondegal defence.
Fondegal then capitalised on the counter, with Aleeward Mascarenhas completing his hat-trick in the 49th minute, extending the lead to 4-1. The final blow came in the 80th minute, when super sub Reon Colaco found the back of the net to round off the scoring at 5-1.
