SFX Chicalim booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the 5th All Goa 8-a-side Football Tournament, defeating Papa Boys Sao Jose de Areal 3-2 in an exciting clash held at the Laymati Football Ground, Davorlim, on Thursday. The tournament is being organized by the Davorlim Sports and Cultural Club.
SFX Chicalim got off to a flying start, showing urgency and precision in front of goal. Edson Souza opened the scoring in the 5th minute, followed by a second goal from Sidney Luis in the 10th minute to give Chicalim a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.
After the break, Papa Boys came back strongly. They dominated possession and managed to draw level with goals from Alister Fernandes in the 35th minute and Clifford in the 40th.
However, just when the match seemed to be heading for a draw, Sidney Luis struck again in the 56th minute, firing home from close range to complete his brace and secure a thrilling win for SFX Chicalim.
