CAC Cansaulim overcame Salcete FC 1-0 in the final of the GFA’s U-15 Division at SAG ground, Benaulim on Wednesday.
Pio Gomendes of Salcete should have netted in the 5th minute but his powerful shot was saved by Ashish Sawad, the goalkeeper of Cansaulim. A countermove by Jonathan Silva of Cansaulim didn't materialise in the 7th minute. Steven Gomes of Salcete was then tackled by Pradeep Kullu of Cansaulim, stopping a threatening move in the 12th minute. Again, Pio Gomendes' solo move was thwarted by Sagar Naik of Cansaulim in the 15th minute.
Then a foxy move by Sagar Naik of Cansaulim, who took a powerful shot, saw Salcete goalkeeper push away the ball, which fell for Pradeep Kullu and his shot from close range found the net for the first goal of the match in the 35th minute. Then, Lloyd Rocha's long-ranger failed to pop up into the Cansaulim net in the 40th minute. Pio Gomendes' solo effort also went wide.
