MARGAO
CRC Chinchinim marched into the semi-finals of the 26th Our Lady of Merces tournament with a commanding 2-0 win over St. Anthony’s Marna Siolim, in a closely-fought match marked by sharp finishing and disciplined defending.
The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Chadel Fernandes timed his run perfectly to latch onto a well-placed pass before calmly finishing past the Siolim keeper, giving Chinchinim a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
Chadel struck again in the 37th minute, pouncing on a defensive error to bag his brace and double Chinchinim’s advantage, effectively putting the game out of reach for Siolim.
Goalkeeper Sunny Fernandes was a standout for Chinchinim, delivering a superb performance with a series of crucial saves to keep Siolim at bay. St. Anthony’s nearly pulled one back when Kanaya Govekar’s powerful header flew just wide of the post.
With this victory, CRC Chinchinim extended their impressive form and secured a well-deserved spot in the semi-finals.
