Margao SC clinch St Anthony Festival Cup in tense finale

Margao Sports Club beat United Club of Seraulim 6-5 in a thrilling tiebreaker.

Margao Sports Club emerged champions of the 17th St Anthony Festival Cup, edging out United Club of Seraulim 6-5 in a tense tiebreaker at Moll Ground, Assolda, on Sunday.

Margao drew first blood in the second minute through Alfred Noronha, but Prosen Mandal levelled for Seraulim in the 36th minute. With the score locked 1-1 at full time, the title was decided via penalties, where Margao SC proved the more composed side to lift the trophy.

Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral was the chief guest, joined by Sidharth Gauns Desai, Adv Livia Antao, GFA Vice-President Anthony Pango, Fr George Ratos, and other dignitaries.
